Why is laser hair removal better than
waxing?
Because waxing damages the hair follicle by
the constant hair removal from its root.
Laser, on the other hand, destroys the hair
follicle, so it won’t produce hair.
Do I need to do anything to prepare
myself for my first waxing appointment?
You should arrive “freshened up” or if there
isn’t time, we provide moistened
“towelettes” for your convenience. The
client MUST undress from the waist down and
change into disposable underwear, right
before the treatment starts.
You may take some Ibuprofen or Advil 1 hour
before the treatment. It may not work as a
pain killer but its anti-inflammatory
properties are helpful in the process.
What is the Candela GentleLASE
laser and why is it a safe treatment?
Lasers have been used for many years for a variety of
medical cosmetic procedures including treatment of
facial and leg veins, eliminating age spots, and rejuvenating the
skin on the face. The GentleLASE System, a revolutionary
long-pulse high-energy alexandrite laser, emits a gentle
beam of light that passes through the skin to the flair
follicle where it is absorbed. The laser energy is
transformed into heat, which destroys the hair follicle
leaving the surrounding skin unaffected. The skin is
further protected during treatment by a Dynamic Cooling
Device where cryogen is sprayed onto the skin, cooling
the upper layers and providing patients with increased
comfort. The GentleLASE selectivity helps to protect the
skin, while effectively treating the unwanted hair.
What conditions are treated with the laser?
Traditional hair removal techniques such as shaving,
plucking, waxing, and depilatory creams provide only
temporary relief. Until now, the only recognized way to
remove hair permanently has been by electrolysis - which
can be tedious, time-consuming, and uncomfortable. The GentleLASE system safely removes unwanted body hair
without damaging the delicate pores and structures of
the skin. Facial and bikini areas are usually completed
in under ten minutes; legs, backs and larger areas can
take longer.
What other conditions does the GentleLASE treat?
The GentleLASE System is also effective for the
treatment of the treatment of the large, "blue" leg
veins.
What does the treatment include?
Depending on the amount of hair treated, the procedure
varies from patient to patient. Generally, the treatment
will include:
-
Wearing safety eyewear to
protect the practitioner and patient's eyes from the
laser light during the procedure.
-
A small hand piece will be
used that touches the skin to deliver the laser
light. A light spray of coolant onto the skin will
be felt just before each laser pulse.
-
A test area will be done prior
to the entire treatment. Your full treatment may be
done on the same day or up to two weeks later,
depending on the skin reaction. Most patients
experience little discomfort at the treatment site
because of the dynamic cooling device.
-
The degree of discomfort
varies with each person, depending on his/her pain
threshold. Topical anesthesia may also be requested
based on individual preferences or tolerances. Be
sure to discuss this with your practitioner in
advance of the laser treatment.
-
The procedure can take as
little as 10 minutes or up to an hour, depending on
the area treated.
-
The treated area may become
pink or red within 30 minutes of treatment; this may
last from a few hours to several days and is
relieved with the application of ice or cooling
gels.
What precautions should be
taken before and after treatment?
-
Avoid the sun 4-6 weeks before and after treatment,
or until your practitioner allows it.
-
You must avoid electrolysis, plucking or waxing hair
for 6 weeks prior treatment.
-
If you have had a history of perioral herpes,
prophylactic antiviral therapy may be prescribed.
-
If you have a dark skin type, a bleaching cream may
be started 1-6 weeks before treatment to optimize
results.
-
You should discuss your desired results and the
improvements you expect to achieve with your
practitioner. Together you can decide if your
expectations will be met and if this laser treatment
is the best option.
How many treatments will I need? Hair grows in cycles. The number of treatments
required depends upon your skin color, hair color,
and coarseness of the hair. Everyone will require at
least 2-3 treatments as the process is only
effective on hair during the early growing cycle.
Repeat sessions will be necessary to treat these
follicles when they re-enter the early growth phase.
Skin Care
Will a facial make me break-out?
It is possible depending on the Skin Care
Treatment you receive which is why we
discourage certain facials fewer than 2
weeks before a major event.
How often should I get a facial?
We recommend getting a facial every 4 to 6
weeks for optimum skin health. However, some
cases require a series of treatments; such
as, one treatment a week for 3 to 6 weeks in
a row.
If you can’t do any of that, at least have
your pores cleansed 4 times a year. One
every season. That way you can properly
protect your skin from the harm of each
different season.
How do I know what kind of
facial is best for me?
After a skin analysis consultation, one of our Licensed
Esthetician will recommend the best treatment program
for you, depending on your skin type and skin condition
at that time.
What is a chemical peel?
It is a treatment designed to remove superficial layers
of skin, generating a newer and fresher youthful skin.
It’s used to help “dry out ”active acne, displace
blackheads, reduce shallow wrinkling and scarring, help
lighten hyper pigmentation, and improve the appearance
and health of sun damaged, acne prone, and aging skin.
What kind of chemical peels does Claudia’s Skin Care
offer?
We offer modified Jessner, Glycolic, Lactic and
Salicylic acid Peels. All in different strengths to suit
your skin needs.
What products should be avoided
before a facial?
Any product containing Vitamin A (tretinoin) such as
Retin-A, Retinol, or Renova and topical acne medications
like Differin, Pro Activ, and Tazorac need to be stopped
1-2 weeks before treatment. Accutane needs to be stopped
6 months before any deep exfoliation treatments can be
performed.

Eyelash Extensions
What are eyelash extensions?
Eyelash extensions are synthetic fibers that are glued
to your individual eyelashes using a unique waterproof
bonding agent. They are polished and curled to look as
if they were your own, only more glamorous.
How long do eyelash extensions last?
Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent and last about 2
months or until your natural eyelash falls out. After a
full set of extensions are applied, touch-ups are
usually done every 2 to 4 weeks.
How do I prepare for eyelash extensions?
Please do not curl your lashes or wear any eye makeup.
If you are a contact lens wearer, please remove them and
wear your glasses to the appointment. We also recommend
bringing an iPod or Walkman to your appointment since
you will be here for about 3 hours.
